The Temptation of Percival

Description

While browsing the Web, I spotted a work by English artist Arthur Hacker from the late 19th century called “The Temptation of Percival” ([link]). I liked it so much I decided to do a similar work using Poser Characters and Vue 8. I wasn't trying to copy it so much as use it as a starting point. I tried to get the knight’s pose as close as possible, but I changed the temptress considerably. I just didn’t like her pose in the original, nor did I really care for her hair style. I also left out the blurry figure that appears behind Percival in the original as I feel he didn’t really add much.

The characters were posed in Poser 6. The rest of the scene was created using Vue 8. Vue 8 was used to do the final render which took 37 hours using an AMD Phenom X4 quad core 3.2 GHz with 9GB of memory. A great deal of post work was done in GIMP.

Percival is Daz3d's "Michael 3.0" from Daz3d([link])

The armor and sword are from "The Knight Errant for Michael 3.0" by Valandar and Out of Touch, purchased at Daz3d([link])

Percival’s Skin is from Lancelot for M3 by RawArt purchased at Daz3d([link])

Percival’s Hair is Mihai hair by Neftis, purchased at Daz3d([link])

The temptress is Daz3d’s Victoria 4 ([link])
Her gown is Carib98's Nuisette No9 which is a free download from Renderosity ([link])
Her hair is Gwenith Hair by Little fox available at Runtime DNA ( [link])
The holy grail is just a bunch of Vue primitives put together with Boolean grouping. All the natural stuff is stock Vue stuff.

Interesting take on the piece - I wonder, with 2, 3 years more experience under your belt now, and a lot of vastly improved images in your gallery, are you ever considering tackling this piece again?
I find that their expressions and the fluidity of their bodies (though his pose is right on) are distracting, I imagine with more recent upgrades this could be done with more realistic attributes. :)
