Dinofelis, a prehistoric cat with very long teeth, is waiting atop a rock in the forest. Off in the distance, three small pheasants are pecking the forest floor for food. The cat gets ready to pounce as they wander closer.

I had a few requests for a Dinofelis image. Dinofelis was an relative of the more well known sabre-toothed cats, such as smilodon. Dinofelis had a very stout body and was about the size of a modern jaguar. It's canine teeth were long but not nearly so much as of sabre-toothes like smilodon. Dinofelis lived around 5 to 1.2 million years ago throughout the northern hemisphere.

Note this scene uses purchased content. The animals were posed in poser then imported into Vue where the rest of the scene was constructed. I made the cat's coat using GIMP using photos that I took of the clouded leopard at the Atlanta zoo as a reference. Final rendering was done in Vue and took about 12 hours on an Intel I5 2.8 GHz with 8 GB of RAM. Post production was also done in GIMP.

Thanks for looking!
Daniel

I heard this thing may have prayed on our ancestors... Like the earliest hominids. Is that possible?
