The cockatrice, sometimes called a basilisk, was a legendary medieval monster, the hybrid of a rooster and a serpent. The animal depicted in this artwork seems to fit that description, but it was, in fact, a real creature. This is gigantoraptor, a oviraptorosaurian dinosaur of the late cretaceous period (about 70 million years ago). I don't do much in the way of dino art these days. I prefer mammals, but this fella just seemed to fit perfectly into the foggy forest scene I had been playing with for a few days.

The Gigantorapter is by Dinoraul. I picked it up a few years ago on Daz3d.com: [link]
