Out of the mists stomps one of nature's powerhouses: the magnificent rhinoceros, one of the most iconic of African beasts.  With its thick skin and sharp horn, this creature is the tank of the animal world.  In this piece of wildlife artwork, the rhino gives an angry snort as he marches aggressively towards the viewer.  His steamy breath mixes the mists that enshroud the landscape.

There are two major types of Rhino in Africa: The Black Rhinoceros, and the White Rhinoceros.  They are often hunted for their horns. Poaching is a huge problem for the species.  There are also three types of Asian rhinos: Indian, Javan, and Sumatran.  Despite conservation efforts, several types of rhino are critically endangered.

Malaysia recently lost all its native rhinos. The female white rhino who died this year wasn't a full northern white rhino. Her father was a southern white rhino. Her mother probably had inbreeding defects that she passed onto her daughter. That's why she finally died from the cysts in her ovaries that she suffered from birth.

For the preservation of a species we need to take any drastic action! A clarification to critics of African countries that exercise shoot to kill policies against poachers. These poachers are armed members of criminal gangs. These criminals will not hesitate to murder anyone who oppose them especially park rangers who risk their lives for conservation. Poarchers are NOT impoverished farmers who are struggling to feed their families. Impoverished families would not have access to firearms that could kill megafauna. Conservation critics need to do their research before they judge!
